Joe Allen Clark, 88, passed away Thursday, December 1, 2011 in Abilene. Visitation for family and friends will be Sunday, December 4, 2011 from 3 till 5 PM at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Funeral will be 10:00 AM, Monday, December 5, 2011 in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel.
Joe was born March 12, 1923 in Moran, TX to Robert and Emily Hunt. He attended Baird High School before being drafted into the United States Army, where he served our country in the European Theater during World War II. After the war he met and then married Jessie Burton in 1946 in New Bedford, MA. They moved back to Baird, TX to start their family. While living in Baird he worked for the Railroad and Paymaster Feeds before beginning his career with American Transfer and Storage where he retired after twentysix years of employment. After his retirement he enjoyed spending his time working with HO scale model trains, painting, and traveling. He was a member of Grace Tabernacle.
He is survived by two sons, Kenneth James Clark and wife Brenda of Abilene, and Oliver Dale Clark of Abilene two grandchildren, Scottie Clark and wife Amy of Abilene, and David Wayne Clark of Lubbock several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Jessie one grandson, Tommy Clark five sisters one brother.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial donations be made to the charity of your choice in Joes honor.
