Joe Sparks

Joe Lind Sparks, 74, passed away Monday, August 15, 2011, in Abilene. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM, on Friday, August 19, 2011, at The Texas State Veterans Cemetery, 7457 West Lake Rd.

Joe was born on May 3, 1937 in Abilene, to Ima B McClain and Noah Jack Sparks. He graduated from Abilene High School in 1955 and attended TCU. He served our country faithfully in the United States Navy for 20 years until his retirement. He married the love of his life Barbara Levesque on August 18, 1973, in Tucson, AZ. Joe was a member of The Fleet Reserve Association, an avid golfer, and a member of the Diamond Back Golf Club. He was also a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints.

Joe is survived by his beloved wife Barbara his children, Jack Sparks of Taos, NM, Gayla Hood of Taos, NM, Joe Sparks of Taos, NM, Debra Day and husband Neil of Kansas City, MO his brothers, Michael Sparks and wife Becky of Los Angeles, CA, Francis Tedford of Godly, TX, L.B. Tedford and wife Susie of Kerrville, TX, Leon Zachary and wife Napa of Abilene one sister, Betty Joe Salek of Silver City, NM his aunt, Donna Young of Houston, TX his uncle, Bud McClain and wife June of Crowell, TX and several grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
