Joe Navarro Vi328;a, 75, entered into eternal rest with his Savior on Tuesday, January 13, 2009. His funeral service with Pastor Ezequiel Pecina officiating will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, January 16th at the New Life Temple Assembly of God, 2465 Old Anson Rd. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 7:00 PM, with Praise and Worship time beginning at 7:00 PM on Thursday at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 HWY 277 South.
Joe was born on December 11, 1933 near San Antonio the son of Felipe Vi328;a and Eufemia Navarro Vi328;a. He came to Abilene in his early 20s and was employed with Acco Feeds for 37 years, retiring in 1997. He married his soul mate, Eloise Macias on September 26, 1967 and they have enjoyed 41 years together raising a family and serving the Lord. He was a member of New Life Temple Assembly of God Church where he made it his ministry to become the caretaker of the church grounds.
Joe was a devoted Christian and the spiritual leader of his home. Through his relationship with Christ, the fruits of the spirit, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control could be witnessed in his daily life. He was a mentor to his son-in-laws, and a constant encouragement to everyone around him.
Survivors include his wife, Eloise Vi328;a of Abilene; his children, Anita Olguin and husband Richard of Abilene, Delia Fernandez and husband Robert of Abilene, Raymond Seguin and wife Jan of Arlington, Alice Penns and husband Clarence of Abilene, Elisa Martinez and husband Ernest of Abilene, Mary Seguin of Abilene, Mary Ann Vi328;a of Corpus Christi, and Josie Wilson and husband Sly of Arlington; brothers, Felipe Vi328;a Jr. of Rotan and Ramon Vi328;a of Elmendorf, Texas; his sisters, Faustina V. Aguilar and Frances Lediecke both of Elmendorf, Texas, Margarita Anthony and husband Tomas of San Antonio, Janie Romero of Floresville, Texas, Elena Chapa and husband Isaac of San Antonio; a sister-in-law, Darlene Goodhart and husband Jerry of Lubbock; 16 Grandchildren, 23 Great Grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a huge church family. He is also survived by his faithful dog, Smokey.
