June 7, 1951 — February 11, 2012

Joe Franklin Wood, 60, passed away Saturday, February 11, 2012 in Abilene. Visitation will be 5 till 7 PM, Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Funeral will be 2 PM, Wednesday, February 15, 2012 in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow the service in Elmwood Memorial Parks, Garden of Remembrance.
Joe was born June 7, 1951 in Cheyenne, WY to Roy C. and Margaret Pinnell Wood. He grew up in Snyder, TX and graduated for Snyder High School in 1969. He was a welder and mechanic and really enjoyed repairing motorcycles. He was a member of FountainGate Fellowship. He loved sports and was a great Abilene High fan, travelling many miles throughout the years to watch the eagles play. He supported the local colleges also and was a general sports enthusiasts. He enjoyed spending time riding his Harley or cruising in his Jeep. Joe never met a stranger and was one of the most outgoing and friendly guys you could meet.
He is survived by two children, Aaron and wife, Ann, and Toni Jo Wood all of Abilene three grandchildren, Austin, Aaden, and Alexis Wood his mother, Margaret Wood Litton of Midland sister, Carolyn Wood Doolittle and husband, Mike of Midland two nephews, Kelly M. and Gavin Doolittle.
Joe was preceded in death by his dad, Roy C. Wood.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations to ALS research or the charity of you choice.
