John Hoover

John Eugene Hoover, 64, passed away November 21, 2009 in Abilene. His graveside funeral service will be at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery, 7457 W. Lake Road, Abilene, TX. Visitation will be from 6 till 8 PM, Monday, November 23, 2009 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South.

John was born in Sturgiss, MI on September 6, 1945 to Myrtle Louis McKinley. After high school he enlisted with the United States Air Force and dedicated 26 years to serving his country. On May 16, 1975 he married Sumiko at the US Embassy in Tokyo, Japan. They returned to the Abilene area in 1983 where he retired from the military in 1990. After retirement he worked as a postman for the US Postal service in Merkel, TX for 14 years.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Sumiko; three children, Robert Hoover and wife, Sonya of Rockford, IL, Naomi Hoover Spivey and husband Danny of Abilene, and Janith Landry and husband Tom of Jacksonville, AR; his mother, Myrtle McKinley; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
