John Jimenez

John Jimenez, 68, passed away Monday, January 9, 2023, in Abilene, Texas. A visitation will be 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Thursday, January 12, 2023, at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. A funeral service will be 10:00 AM, Friday, January 13, 2023, in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 Hwy 277 South.
John was born April 23, 1954, in O'Brien, Texas to Serapio Jimenez Sr. and Janie Martinez. He worked for the Abilene State School from 1972 - 1987. Soon after leaving the state school John opened a flower shop named Casa Jimenez. He ran a successful flower business for many years. Later he also enjoyed working for Lee Wholesale. John was a wonderful man and caregiver that loved to sing, loved flowers, loved children, loved his family but most of all he loved the Lord. He enjoyed helping others and donated several arrangements to different churches during his time owning the flower shop.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Auroa Jimenez Martinez; two sisters, Gloria Jimenez, and Ramona Pena; and one brother, Serapio Jimenez Jr.
John is survived by his son, Jonathan Jimenez, his daughter, Patricia Mitchell and her husband John; one grandchild, Joanne Jimenez; one sister, Susie Olliva; one brother, Felipe Jimenez; two special cousins, Robert Chia, and Adam Martinez; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The family would like to thank Robert Chia and Adam Martinez for the love and care you gave John in his final days. You are loved and appreciated more than you know.
