John Mcguire

John Melvin McGuire, 93, passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2012 in Abilene. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 23rd in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 HWY 277 South with interment following in the Garden of Meditation at Elmwood Memorial Park

John was born on November 19, 1918 and grew up in Haskell and Abilene. He worked at Halliburton and Ponca Wholesale and was a successful salesman in several fields. John was a member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church, was an avid Bridge player and enjoyed playing dominoes and hunting.

Survivors include his wife Murl McGuire of Abilene one niece, Shirley Hodgin Sanchez and husband Rick of Comanche nephews, Weldon Hill of Amarillo, Bob Hill of Gladewater, Floyd McGuire Jr. and wife Alta of Haskell, Bill McGuire and wife Kay of Mineral Wells, and Jim Hodgin and wife Judy of Salado.

His daughter, Charlotte McGuire, three brothers, and one sister, Ruth Hodgin preceded him in death.
