John Miller

John Miller, 87, passed away April 14, 2016 in Abilene. Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 PM, Thursday, April 21, 2016 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Friday, April 22, 2016 in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow the service in Elmwood Memorial Park.

John was born July 28, 1928 in Purcell, OK to parents, Liona and Ola Miller. He grew up and resided in Fremont, CA. He served our country faithfully in the United States Army and later retired from the County of Alameda, CA where he worked as a heavy duty automotive mechanic. He relocated to Abilene, where his high school sweetheart lived, when he was 64 years old. He loved being a grandpa, he enjoyed playing golf with his golf buddies, James, Harold, and George, camping, fishing, and watching the Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys.

He is survived by children, Dan Miller and wife Kathleen of Fremont, CA, Gloria Holmes of Camarillo, CA, David Miller and wife Kathy of Apple Valley, CA, and Lori Feagan and husband Rob of Ripon, CA; Robert Joseph of Camarillo, CA; one granddaughter, Michelle Miller; a second loving family, Cleo Miller; Michael and Pam Miller, David Miller, Chris Miller, Mike Miller Jr.; and seven great grandchildren.

John was preceded in death by his grandson and best friend, Joshua Miller; and six siblings.
