The Life and Legacy of John Verneille Pepe
John Verneille Pepe, lovingly known as John, Johnny, Uncle Johnny, John Blocker, Daddy, Big John, Papa John and Pepe was born on October 29, 1965 to Verneille and Sylvia Pepe in Brooklyn, New York. He was ninth of their ten children. He often described himself as a shy, mischievous, and playful kid. John attended St. Martin of Tours Elementary School in Brooklyn where he was introduced to God. John's parents moved to Jamaica, Queens New York where he completed his early education at Benjamin N. Cardoza High School.
At an early age John developed an extreme love for automobiles, which was his hobby and work, when he started working for John Blocker as a teenager. He married the love of his life Kathy Sherman-Reynolds in 1993 in Brooklyn, New York. John, Kathy and family moved to Abilene, Texas in 1993 and become members of Macedonia Baptist Church. John loved working on automobiles, which he was passionate about and gladly shared his knowledge and passion with his family and friends. Also sharing a great love for the New York Giants.
John's love for cars never went away, he always saw each one he came across as "a good car".
John was preceded in death by his parents, Verneille and Sylvia Pepe, his grandmother, Olivia Joseph, brothers Lesly and Guy Pepe also mother-in-law Dorothy Sherman and niece Rachel Pierre.
John leaves to cherish his memory his wife Kathy, children Tyeisha Mays of Jamaica,
Queens New York, Deloya Pepe, Daniel Pepe, Jonne Reynolds of Dallas, Texas and Jene' Rice and husband Andre' (grandsons Lance and Landon of Las Vegas Nevada), Andrea Mays (mother of Tyeisha Mays) of Jamaica, Queens, New York.
In addition John leaves his Aunt Angele Toussaint, Uncle Ramongue Lamour , and Cousin-in-law Yvica Zephyr, his sisters Mireille Leroy, Merry Flore Pepe, Mona Pepe, Jocelyne Lawal, Margalie Pierre(Godmother), Rodney L.Pepe-Souvenir, Susie Pepe, Yolette Pepe, Jacqueline Reid, and brother Steven Pepe. John was brother-in-law to Bola Lawal, Evens Dorce, Robert Vaval, David Reid, Jean Sajous and Miaa Pepe, John was the uncle of Natalie Leroy, Jean Edouard Leroy, Frica Merryse Robuste, Fridritch Robuste, Jameslye Andre Charles, Douper Charles, Robert Vaval, David Vaval, Kemi-Jean Lawal, Shola Lawal, Reggie Lawal, Bobby Pierre, Kathleen Pierre, Christian P. Souvenir, Serge A. Souvenir, Jonathan Sylvain, Nadege Sylvain, Jessica Pepe, Gabrielle Dickson, Kenneth Reid, Brian Reid, Brianna Reid, Alana M. Pepe, Freddie Evans, Makeila Pepe and Malia Pepe. John was the cousin to Alix Charles, Frantz Hogu (Godfather), Lionel Hogu, Nicole Hogu, Mirlande Hogu, Max Hogu, Mercedes Hogu, Sourette Hogu, Felix Augustin, Sony Augustin, Elande Pepe, Ernide Pepe, Marie Eve Valin, Kettly Pepe, Nancy Scott, Arlene Lamour and Sabrina Lamour. In addition John leaves behind numerous great nieces and nephews and dear friends that will miss him tremendously. John loved his family.
A Visitation will be held at Macedonia Baptist Church on Sunday, March 5 from 5 to 7 PM. Funeral service will be, March 6, 2017, 1 PM at Macedonia Baptist Church, 608 N. 7th Street, Abilene, Tx 79601. John will be laid to rest in Elmwood Memorial Park 5750 Hwy 277, Abilene, Texas 79605.
