Johnny Perry

Johnny William J.W. Perry Jr., 86, passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2010 in Abilene. A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 29, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Elmwood Memorial Park, 5750 Hwy 277 South in Abilene.

J.W. was born August 6, 1923 in Anson, Texas, where he lived until he joined the U.S. Navy in December of 1942. He married Marvine Fritz on September 12, 1946, and they lived in Abilene their entire married life.

J.W. served proudly in the United States Navy during World War II from December of 1942 until 1945. He served at the same time as his three older brothers, and they were known in the small community of Anson as Those Fighting Perry Boys.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Marvine Perry, three children two sons, Gene Perry of Abilene, and James Perry of Abilene, on daughter, Beverly Snyder and husband Glenn of Abilene 6 Grandchildren, Johnny, Jason Brian, James, Michael, and Katherine and 8 Great Grandchildren.

J.W. was preceded in death by his father, Johnny William Perry Sr., his mother, Frances Perry, three brothers, Frank, Calvin, and Richard, and one sister, Leta.

J.W. was loved by so many, relatives and friends. He will be greatly missed.

The family of J.W. wish to thank the family members and friends who helped us during a difficult time. We love and appreciate each of you. We also wish to thank the nurses, staff and Dr. George Dawson of Big County Hospice who showed their love, care and respect not only for J.W. but also for his family. You made such a huge impact on our lives in such a short time. We love you all.
