Jose Lopez

Jose A. Lopez, 84, of Abilene passed away Saturday November 15,2014 in Abilene.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday November 18 at 1 PM at the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel with Frank Estes officiating. Burial will follow at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene. Visitation with the family will be held Monday from 5 to 7 PM.

Jose was born on August 2, 1930 in Del Rio, TX to the late Ylibario and Guadalupe Herrera Lopez. He married Cora Cruz on December 5, 1953 in Greeley, Colorado. Jose served his country in the Unites States Air Force and retired after 22 years of service. He went on to work at Hardin Simmons University and Crown Cork and Seal. Jose was a member of Bethel Temple Christian Center and dearly loved his 2 dogs.

Jose is survived by his wife of 62 years Cora Lopez, son Jose Lopez Jr. of Abilene, TX daughter Olivia and husband Bill White of Benbrook, TX son, Tony Lopez and wife Cindy of Arlington granddaughter, Valarie Lopez of Abilene brother Benancio Lopez and wife Laura of Del Rio sister inlaw, Thelma Cruz of Greeley, Co. brother inlaw Manuel Cruz of Ohio his best friend, Torome Flint of Abilene numerous nieces and nephews.
