Jose Patena

Jose Patena went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 3, 2011 at a local nursing home, he was 78 years old. Visitation will be from 6 till 8 PM, Thursday, July 7, 2011 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277
South. Funeral service will be 10:00 AM, Friday, July 8, 2011 at the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Jessie Cantu.
Jose was born March 31, 1933 in Nava, Coahuila, Mexico to Juanita Martinez and Jose Patena. He married Nora Rodriguez Cantu on Sept 9, 1979 in Abilene, Texas. Jose worked as a cement finisher for many years. He enjoyed listening to music, dancing, fishing, and visiting with friends and family.
Jose was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Juanita Martinez Patena.
Survivors include two daughters, Janie Rodriguez and husband Ralph of Clyde, TX, Margaret Gonzales and husband Ralph of Abilene, TX three sons, Armando Cantu and wife Flora of Phoenix, AZ, Jessie Cantu of Abilene, TX, and Fermin Cantu and wife Chom Im of Killeen, TX fifteen grandchildren twentyfour great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers memorials donations may be made to Hendrick Hospice Care, 1682 Hickory St., Abilene, TX, 79601.
