Josephine Isabelle Clemmer, 100, passed away Saturday, July 30, 2022 in Abilene. Visitation will be 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Monday, August 1, 2022 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. A Funeral Service will be 1:00 PM, Tuesday, August 2, 2022 in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel.
Josephine was born October 25, 1921 to John and Callalily Winter in Abilene, Texas. She attended and graduated Abilene High School. In 1941 she met and married the love of her life Woodrow Walter Clemmer. The couple lived in many places while serving in the Air Force including Alaska, California, Florida, Louisiana, Bermuda, and Massachusetts. Josephine served her country proudly by being an officer's wife for over 23 years. After returning to Abilene, Josephine became a proud member of the Garden Club. She enjoyed using her creativity to make ceramics and in the later years making jewelry which she shared with friends and family. She was the most amazing wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister to her family. Josephine loved spending time with her family and will be missed dearly by each of them. The legacy of love and dedication she leaves behind will be carried on for generations to come.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lt. Col. Ret. Woodrow Walter Clemmer; two siblings, John Huey Winter, and Martha Helen Winter Collier Sorem; her brother in law, Harroll Clemmer; sisters in law, Delores "Bootsie" Clemmer Conley, and Lois Marie "Tootsie" Clemmer Price.
Josephine is survived by her daughter, Becky Jo Roberts and husband Randy of Abilene; her son, Don Jeffery Clemmer and wife Nancy of Santa Fe, NM; four grandchildren, Matt Roberts and wife Rachele, Mark Roberts and wife Jessica, Kelly Bissar and husband Adham, and John Clemmer; four great grandchildren, Madelyn, Olivia, Austin, and Eleanor; one sister, Julia Ann Winter Greene; and numerous nieces, and nephews.
