Josephine French

Josephine (Jo) Walters French, 97, passed away, Tuesday, May 30, 2017. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 2, 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Elmwood Funeral Home located at 5750 Hwy 277, Abilene, Texas. Funeral Services will be in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, June 3rd at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park.

Josephine was born July 5, 1919 in Weakley County, Tennessee.

As a homemaker, Josephine was very active in the lives of her three children. At the retirement age of 62 she began babysitting, which started a twenty-year career caring for many newborns and their siblings in her home. During the 1980's, Josephine was a telephone operator for the Abilene Doctors Exchange. She was a Life Member of Associated Women for Pepperdine and a member of Hillcrest Church of Christ.

She is survived by her loving children, Ron French, Fransuelle (French) Hodges, and Andy French, and their families.

The family requests memorials to the West Texas Rehab Center and Hospice of the Big Country.
