Josiah James Otto, 31, died May 8, 2024, in Lyford, Texas. He was born August 19, 1992, in Peoria, Illinois. Josiah graduated from Cooper High School in Abilene, Texas, in 2011. Following high school, he worked as a machinist in various locations, most recently in Sweetwater, Texas. He returned to school to study in the wind energy technology program at Texas State Technical College in Sweetwater. He graduated with an associate degree in September 2022. Since then, he worked in the wind energy industry.

Josiah loved to travel. A cross-country trip at age 10 on the back of a Harley Davidson motorcycle with his father inspired his lifelong love of adventure and exploring new places. He also adopted his father's affection for cars, and Josiah always took pride in his vehicles. In addition, Josiah enjoyed fishing, shooting guns, archery, and was devoted to personal fitness. Above all, he was a generous and kind soul to family and friends. Josiah was sustained in his life by a strong conviction and deep faith in God as a born again Christian.

Josiah was preceded in death by his father, James K. Otto.

He is survived by his mother, Lisa Otto (Katie Nguyen) of Lewisville, Texas; his sister, Courtney Otto (Adrian Lozano, Sr.); niece, AnnaLeigh Lozano; nephew, Adrian Lozano, Jr., of Anson, Texas; half-sister, Robin Otto West (Eric); nephew, Christian West; niece, Alexis West of Downs, Illinois; and step-sister, Kelsey Nguyen (Patrick Southivong) of The Colony, Texas; plus a number of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The viewing and visitation will be 2:00 - 4:00 PM, Friday, May 17, 2024 followed by a Celebration of Life service beginning at 4:00 PM, in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 Highway 277 South, Abilene, Texas. Casual attire is acceptable. Instead of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or to the charity of one's choice.
