Joye Wynette Washburn, 75, passed away Thursday, July 16, 2015 in Abilene.
Visitation will be held Friday, July 17 at 12:30-2:00 PM with service following at 3:00 PM at the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 HWY 277 South. Burial will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park.
Wynnette was born on September 11, 1939 the daughter of James Robert Spires and Linnie Lorene Snodgrass Spires in Lawton, Oklahoma. Her family moved to Kermit, Texas where she grew up and attended school. She worked many years for Merle Norman as a cosmetics consultant. She later worked for Abilene Mobile Homes where she met the love of her life Paul Washburn, Sr. Wynette and Paul were married in Abilene, Texas on December 7, 1973.
She was a truly giving and generous person. She donated to countless organizations with one of her favorite being Rescue the Animals where she acquired her beloved pet Sally. Wynette cherished and loved her family dearly. She is preceded in death by her husband Paul M. Washburn, Sr., brother, James Spires, and sister Wanda Johnson.
She is survived by her sister Betty Jenkins and husband Donny; her children, Paul Washburn, Jr., and his wife Delores, Jim Meadows, Cecil Meadows and wife Jodie, Deborah Kay Pancake and husband Kenny; 16 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the ICU staff at Abilene Regional Medical Center for their love, care and support.
