Juan Rodriguez

Juan "Johnny" Rodriguez, 57, passed peacefully into the arms of his Savior on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 in Abilene, Texas. He was born in Mercedes, Texas on December 17, 1959 to Amelia Garcia Rodriguez and Ruben Q. Rodriguez. He was a life-long resident of Abilene and a proud graduate of Abilene High School.

He married the love of his life, Debra Jean, on February 27, 1987. Johnny was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He was a hard-working man with many talents and used them to help others. He was fun to be around and was famous for his barbecue. Although he devoted his time to his wife, children, and grandchildren, he also enjoyed spending time with his friends and family.

He is survived by his mother, Amelia Rodriguez; four daughters, Sherry Rodriguez, Eunice Herrera-Cerda (Kirby), Angelica Rodriguez, and Rubia Rodriguez. His devoted grandchildren are Elijah Herrera, Penelope Herrera, Makeo Herrera, Bethany Paige Herrera, Ezekiel Tyson Herrera, and Austin Baker-Rodriguez. Other survivors include his brother, Ruben Rodriguez (Anissa); his sisters, Ann Jimenez (Johnny), Esmeralda Rodriguez, and Dora Rodriguez-Bergan; along with numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Debra Jean and his father, Ruben Q. Rodriguez.

Visitation will begin at 6:00 PM followed by a prayer service beginning at 7:00 PM on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 US Highway 277 South in Abilene. Funeral service will be 2:00 PM on Friday, February 24, 2017 in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel.
The pallbearers for the service will be, Mathew Herrera, Mark Herrera, Mario Herrera, Marcus Rodriguez, Omar Rodriguez, Mark Lomas, David Jaramillo, and Elijah Herrera.
