Juanita M. Mullins, 93, passed away March 31, 2015.
A memorial service will be held December 7, 2018 at 2 PM at the Elmwood Funeral Home Family Center.
Juanita was born on March 8, 1922 in Fort Worth, TX., to the late R.S. and Zula Foster. She married the late Bernie C. Mullins and had two boys. Bernie Mullins was a pilot in the Army Air Corps at the end of World War II and stayed on to make the military a career. This took Juanita to Europe where she and Bernie lived in Germany and England. Juanita was one of the first cadre of military spouses to join their husbands in post WWII Europe. Dyess AFB, TX was the last station in Bernie's career and the family settled down in Abilene at 2352 South 33rd St in 1957. Juanita was a gifted artist, making her way with two small boys on her talents following the death of her husband in 1962. She later turned that talent into a successful flower and gift business, owning and operating Nita's Flowers and Gifts in Burro Alley for close to three decades. Juanita was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church.
Juanita is survived by one son, Dr. Billy Mullins and wife Jill, and four grandchildren.
