On June 14, 2021, one we all know, and love stepped across the threshold, but it was only a step into the house of the Lord. It was written to be absent from the body, and to be present with the lord. 2 Corinthians 5:8.
Judi Patricia Jones was born on May 16, 1953, in Rotan, Texas of Fisher County. She was the youngest daughter of 11 children born to Eugene and Pearl Powell.
Judi attended Rotan Elementary, Rotan High school, TSTI college and the University of Hardin-Simmons. She received a degree in Architectural Drafting from TSTI. She also received a Bachelor of Political Science / Pre-Law with a minor in Counseling and Human Development degree from Hardin-Simmons and she also received her Masters from Hardin-Simmons. She was a faithful member of Oak Grove Baptist Church and sung in the choir.
She is best known for her peaceful and beautiful loving spiritual character. Humility was a natural gift of hers. Judi was a loving and caring mother. She spent her life supporting her children in every possible way for them to succeed in life. She leaves to cherish and celebrate her memory; three sons George Patterson, Joel Thomas and Phillip Thomas III, two sisters Bobbie Black, Billie Newsome, two bothers Douglas Powell, Donnie Powell and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins, relatives and friends.
