Nan McCarthy

Judy Nanette Davidson McCarthy, lovingly known as Nan by her family and friends, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2023. She was 78 years old. Nan was born in Abilene, TX on June 7, 1945, to Buell and Chleo Davidson. She attended school in Abilene, graduating from Abilene High School in 1964. She met her husband, John McCarthy, while attending church in Clyde, TX. John said he knew he would marry her the first time he met her and after a brief engagement they married on January 15, 1990. Nan loved her sister Ava's children and grandchildren as her own and they considered her to be their 2nd mother and grandmother. She held several employment positions over the years, but being a wife and an aunt were the roles she loved the most and she poured her heart and soul into both. A beloved wife, sister, aunt and friend, she will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.

Nan is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, John McCarthy; her sister, Ava Davidson; her niece, Caroline Patton; great niece and nephew, Andrea Dominguez and Daniel Reiling; great-great nieces and nephew, Natalie, Sophia and Lorenzo Dominguez; sister-in-laws, Daphna Davidson and Grace Davidson; her beloved pups, Daisy Bell and Blue; and numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins.

Nan was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Standlee Davidson and Ben Davidson; and her nephews, David Davidson and Paul Davidson.

A graveside service to honor Nan's life will be conducted by Elmwood Funeral Home at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery, 7457 W. Lake, Road, Abilene, TX, on Thursday, 7/13/2023 , at 10 am.
