Julia Jimenez

Julia S. Jimenez went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 24, 2018. Visitation will be 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM on Monday, October 29, 2018 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South, Abilene. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at University Church of Christ, 733 E. North 16th, Abilene. Interment will follow the service at the Tuscola Cemetery.

Julia was born March 6, 1940 to Antonio and Hope Sauceda in Hondo, Texas. She moved to Abilene in 1958 and was a lifelong resident. She was a member of University Church of Christ where she attended bilingual services, helped with the Food Pantry, and the up keep of the church kitchen. She volunteered at The Christian Service Center for many years and also was a volunteer for Election Day. Julia was a true servant and touched every person that ever crossed her path. Above all she loved her family with every ounce of her heart and has left a wonderful legacy for us to follow.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Marcos B. Jimenez; her daughter, Irene Jimenez; and her siblings, Mary Amaya, Gloria Cuellar, Oralia Amaya, and Ricky Sauceda.

Julia is survived by her husband, Raul Garcia; her children, Julia J. Ortega, Petra (Betty) Rodriguez and husband Johnny, Pedro (Pete) Jimenez and wife Karen, Mary Rose Romero, and Jesse Jimenez and wife Matilda; sixteen grandchildren, Heather Lee, Tabatha Waters, Lino Garcia, Anthony Rodriguez, Marcus Jimenez, Gabriel Jimenez, Sarah Williams, Ellie Williams, Kandi Woodyard, Raymond Ramero Jr., Marina Ramero, Michael Jimenez, Christopher Jimenez, Stephanie Estrada, Heather Shaw, Brandon Jimenez; 33 great grandchildren; siblings, Manuel Sauceda, Minnie Flores, Antonio Sauceda Jr., Pete Sauceda, Earnest Sauceda, Rudy Sauceda, Robert Sauceda, and Anita Sauceda; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
