Julia Lopez

Julia Sanchez Lopez, 91, of Abilene, TX passed away Monday, February 7, 2023 in Abilene, TX.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, February 12, 2023, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 US HWY 277 S, Abilene, TX. A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 13, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Gethsemane Assembly of God, 2001 Park Avenue, Abilene, TX 79603. Interment will be held following the service at 2:45 PM at Johnson Memorial Cemetery, Munday, TX.

Julia was born January 28, 1932, in Munday, Tx to Rodrigo Sanchez and Angela Acosta Sanchez. She married Juan P. Lopez on November 24, 1950, and were blessed with 55 years of marriage until he passed away on November 23, 2006. They had six children together, two of which are in heaven. Julia was a member of Gethsemane Assembly of God for over 50 years, she served as a President of Women’s Ministry as a deacon Leader of Plays and dramas.

Julia is survived her two sons; Noe Lopez of Austin, Johnny Lopez and wife Yolanda of Abilene; two daughters, Erlinda Guerrero of Abilene, and Becky Lopez of Austin; 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and 4 great great grandchildren.

Julia was also preceded in death by 5 sisters; 5 brothers; and her parents.

She will be dearly missed by her family and dear friends.
