Junior Jenkins

J. Joe Jenkins, 84, went to be with the Lord on April 5, 2010 after a brief illness. Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 7, 2010 from 5 till 7 PM at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. His funeral will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, April 8, 2010 in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel with interment following at Mt. Marion Cemetery, Strawn, TX at 2:00 PM.

Joe was born on November 14, 1925 in Girard, TX to Joe L. and Oma Jenkins. He attended schools in Girard. He married Anna L. McKinney on August 2, 1947 in Dennison, Texas and they enjoyed 62 years of marriage. He enlisted to serve our country in the United States Army on April 14, 1944 and served during World War II, seeing combat in the ETO and PTO. He was a member of First Church of God in Abilene.
He worked for Featherlite Block Company as a Production Manager for 39 years, retiring in 1991. After his retirement he taught computer classes at Oscar Rose Park Senior Center for 11 years.

Joe is survived by his wife, Anna L two sons, Paul Jenkins and wife Jana of Palestine, Tim Jenkins and wife Linda of Strawn 10 grandchildren 12 great grandchildren two sisters Velma Young of Baird Vida Gilbert of Eastland.

He was preceded in Death by his parents 3 brothers, Preston, Coy and Ardell Jenkins 2 sisters, Vivian Taylor and Billie Jo Kimmel 1 daughterinLaw, Brenda Jenkins.
