Born Karen Ella Sawyer in Abilene, Texas on September 25, 1956, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister lived an incredible life. We celebrate her, but mourn her passing this past Sunday morning, October 23, 2022. She was only 66 years old.

She was born to Leo Hardy and Ruby LaVerne Sawyer and graduated from Abilene High School in 1974. She earned her Bachelor's degree from Hardin Simmons University and her Master's degree from Prairie View A&M University.

Karen worked hard to provide a wonderful life to her three children and married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Frankie Berry on April 6, 2018.

She recently retired from AISD after teaching elementary school for 26 years. She loved her students and mentored many other teachers over her career. Karen taught in Houston, Texas at Lola Mae Carter Academy, in Hawley, Texas at Hawley Elementary, in Abilene, Texas at Lee Elementary and her last year at Bonham Elementary. Karen's students were truly her pride and joy.
Karen was a wonderful mother and volunteered her time as both a Girl and Boy Scout leader, children's choir director, and Sunday school teacher. She loved her grandchildren with all of her heart and they loved baking goodies with their Mimi. Karen was loving, kind, and a true blessing to anyone that came in her path. She had a strength that could only come from the Lord her God.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and her triplets, Aimee, Michael, and Joseph Foster.
Karen is survived by her husband, Frankie Berry; her children, Feather (Joshua) Wright, Amber (Michael) Dennison, and Randall (Holli) Baeza; her grandchildren, Jade Wright, Mina Wright, and London Wright, Gage Dennison, Koen Dennison, Lilianna Dennison, Jett Baeza, and Kira Baeza; two siblings, David (Brenda) Sawyer, and Andrew (Joanna) Sawyer; nephew, nieces, many cousins, and friends.

Her legacy of love and joy will fill our hearts forever and until we meet again.
