Katheryne Baxley

Katheryne M Baxley, 79, passed away January 15, 2014 in Abilene. Her funeral will be 3 PM, Monday, January 20, 2014 in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Interment will follow the service in Elmwood Memorial Parks, Garden of Good Shepherd.
Katheryne was born March 9, 1934 in Dalhart, TX to parents, Glenn and Fannie Cooper Brashear. She attended Dalhart High School and graduated from Hardin Simmons University with a degree in Business. She married Bill Baxley in Dalhart and they relocated to Abilene in 1975. From 1975 till 2000 she owned and operated Kathys Crafty Parlor where she taught Decorative Painting and Arts Crafts. After her retirement she continued to teach painting classes out of her home. She enjoyed sewing and reading her Danielle Steel books. She was a very active member of Calvary Baptist Church, Abilene Quilters Guild, and The National Society of Tole and Decorative Painters.
Katheryne is survived by her two sons, Don Ferris and wife Hilda of Keller, TX, Mark Ferris and wife Sandra of Abilene three grandchildren, Schuyler, Kianna, Alisha and brotherinlaw, Harold Baxley and wife Nell of Spring, TX.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill and her parents.
