Kathleen McCurdy Bramlet, 90, passed away Saturday, January 12, 2013 in Abilene. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 15th in the Garden of Ten Commandments at Elmwood Memorial Park, 5750 HWY 277 South.
Kathleen was born in Blanket, Texas on September 20, 1922 the daughter of Olen Doc McCurdy and Lillian Brewster McCurdy. She grew up in Blanket where she graduated as the salutatorian of her class. On May 18, 1940 she married James Truit Bramlet and they lived and raised their family in Brownwood before moving to Abilene in 1952. Kathleen worked at Timex and the YWCA and was a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking and was known for making her coconut cream pies and her orange date nut cake she also had a green thumb and took pride in keeping her yard pristine. She was great at making memories and has left many happy memories for her family to cherish.
Survivors include her daughters, Sue Moore and husband Terry, and Karen Lewis and husband David all of Abilene four grandchildren, Chad Bramlet and wife Stacy, David Lane Lewis and wife Ashley, Shea Bramlet and wife Stefanie and Matt Moore 8 greatgrandchildren, 1 greatgreat grandchild.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son, Jimmy Bramlet, her daughterinlaw, Linda Fields Bramlet, her granddaughter, Lezlie Lewis and her sister, Jane Pierce Payne.
