Kenneth Ray Oliver, 57, passed away Friday, December 20, 2013 at an Abilene hospital. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 28, 2013 at Pioneer Drive Baptist Church, 701 South Pioneer in Abilene Texas, with burial to follow at the city cemetery under the direction of Elmwood Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday, December 27, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 south.
Born May 20th 1956 in Taylor Texas, Kenneth was the son of the late Lewis C. Oliver and Norma Jean Oliver. Kenneth was a very active lifelong resident of Abilene Texas. He graduated from Abilene High in the class of 1975. Kenneth received an associate degree in surgical technology from Cisco Junior college. He worked for Hendrick Medical center for 20 plus years and then moved on to work for Texas Midwest Surgery Center for 13 years. Kenneth coached little league football for the cowboys for 20 years, winning countless number of super bowls. Kenneth was also the president of the cowboys. He loved being out on the field. He also coached girls softball. He was a mentor to many young men and women. Kenneth was very active with the community and touched many lives with his great personality. He was a very pleasant person to be around.
He is preceded in death by his father, Lewis C. Oliver three sisters one grandson, Samuel Louis Calvin and his grandmother, Matilda Hicks.
Survivors include his mother, Norma Jean Oliver two daughters, Candace Oliver and Ellisa Oliver one brother, Terry Oliver and Fianc, Carolyn Jackson. He also has many cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
