Kris Ross

September 3, 1970 — October 9, 2011

October 9, 2011, Kris Ross went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ after a long hard battle against cancer. Her funeral service will be 10:00 AM, Thursday, October 13, 2011, at First Baptist Church, 1333 N 3rd. Visitation for family and friends will be 6 to 8 PM, Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Interment will follow the service at Elmwood Memorial Park.

Kristine Michelle Lane Ross was born on September 3, 1970, in Austin, TX to Gerald and Martha Lane. Kris grew up in Congress Avenue Baptist Church where she accepted Christ at an early age. She was a 1989 graduate of Stephen F. Austin High School and earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches. Kris was an active member in Alpha Chi Omega Sorority where she touched many lives while there. Kris enjoyed teaching children and taught in Humble and Ozona Texas. After teaching she went on to become a public relations representative for AARP. On January 31, 1998, Kris married Todd Ross in Austin, Texas and they have enjoyed thirteen years of marriage.

Kris was an inspiration to all that knew her. She was the best mommy, wife, friend, and warrior that our Lord put on this earth. Kris was a strong Christian and instilled those beliefs and teachings into her children on a daily basis. Her dedication and work ethic was evident in her desire to help. She loved her church family and was a member of First Baptist Church where she served as a Preschool Advisory Committee member, GA Leader, Childrens Choir volunteer, and Sunday School teacher. Her desire to serve her community was also evident in her work as Junior League volunteer, MakeAWish Foundation chairman, Childrens Performing Arts board member, Cancer Society board member, library volunteer, Wylie PTO member, and homeroom mom for her children. There was always a smile, a word, a hug, or a look to help us along our path. She was a constant support and steady rock for her parents during their own times of health needs. In her last weeks she struggled to hide her pain as she was worried about Lane, Halden, and Sloane. Kris just wanted to be mommy and love on her wonderful children and family.

Kris is survived by her husband, Todd her three children, Lane, Halden, and Sloane her mother, Martha Lane of Abilene one sister and brotherinlaw, John and Denise White of Austin two nieces, Kathryn and Elizabeth White.

Kris was preceded in death by her father, W. Gerald Lane.
