Lamearl Jacobs

LaMearl Jacobs, 83, passed away Thursday, January 22, 2009 at a local Abilene hospital. Her funeral service will be 10:00 AM, Monday, January 26, 2009 at the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Visitation will be 3:00 to 5:00 PM on Sunday, January 25, 2009 at Elmwood Funeral Home.

LaMearl was born on August 28, 1925 in Ardmore, OK to John Quincy and Tina Lee Allen. Her family moved from Healdton, OK to Los Angeles, CA in 1943. She married Arthur Jacobs on June 28, 1944 in Los Angeles and enjoyed 62 years of marriage until his passing in 2005. LaMearl worked alongside her parents for OKeefe and Merritt and during the war she worked for the Ration Board distributing food stamps. She retired from North American Aviation Rockwall in 1990 after 30 faithful years of service where she prepared the budget for the Space Shuttle program.

The two most important things in her life were her family and her church. After moving to Abilene in 1999 she became a faithful member of Southern Hills Church of Christ, where she loved to attend, work and worship. She spent much of her time taking care of her family and her love and dedication will be greatly missed by all of them.

LaMearl is survived by one daughter, Carol Kelly and husband Charles of Abilene; one son, John Jacobs and wife Cheri of Lewisville, TX; five grandchildren, Kristen Saltsman and husband George of Abilene, Michelle Kelly of Rancho Santa Margarita, CA,

Jodi Hoke and husband Brad of Lewisville, Mark Jacobs and wife Chelsea of Irving, and Chris Jacobs of Boston, MA; seven great-grandchildren, John Kelly Jr., Carrie Ann Saltsman, Kendyll Jacobs, Carlie Jacobs, Abby Kate Jacobs, Sophie Hock, and Tyler Hock

She was preceded in death by her husband Arthur Jacobs and one grandson John Kelly.
