Larry W Chittum, 77, of Abilene, Texas passed away Sunday March 7, 2021 in Abilene. Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 12, 2021 at 10am at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery. A visitation will be held Thursday, March 11, 2021 from 6 to 8pm.
Larry was born on November 19, 1943 in Abilene, Texas to Ray and Gladys Chittum. He married Karen Jenkins November 15,1967. Larry served and was honorably discharged after proudly serving for 10 years in the United States Army and was a proud Vietnam veteran (1968-1969). He was as lifetime active member of the Veterans of Foreign War. Larry graduated from TSTC with an Associate Degree in Applied Science at the age of 57 with honors. He was a loving husband and father, avid hunter and fisherman, and loved the outdoors.
Larry will be missed dearly by family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Karen Chittum; 5 children, Dee Chittum, Donna McAnally, Jody Bernard, Michael Chittum, and Terry Chittum; 11 grandchildren: 19 great-grandchildren and a sister, Patsy Snodgrass. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Billy Thornton and Jo Tiden, one brother, Ray Terrell Chittum as well as his faithful fishing buddy, Tinker Jo.
