Larry Martin, Sr.

Larry Patrick Martin Sr., a loving father, husband, and dedicated member of his community, passed away on October 26, 2023, at the age of 83. A funeral service will be held Monday, October 30, 2023 in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Interment will follow the service in Elmwood Memorial Park.

He was born on November 2, 1939, in Abilene, Texas, to his proud parents, Robert and Averil Martin. Larry's early years were spent in the vibrant community of Abilene, Texas, where his parents owned McMurry Pharmacy on South 14th Street. As a member of the Martin family, he was an integral part of the community and cherished by all who knew him. The Martin family was well-known for their commitment to Aldersgate United Methodist Church, where they held the esteemed title of charter members. This connection to the church and its values would continue to shape Larry's life throughout the years.

Throughout his life, Larry had a deep passion for sports. He shared this love by coaching his sons' baseball teams, imparting not only the skills of the game but also the values of teamwork and sportsmanship to countless young athletes. Larry had a special connection to the great outdoors. He cherished time spent at the lake, reveling in boating and fishing adventures. His collection of guns and his passion for shooting provided him with a unique and exciting hobby that brought him great satisfaction.

Above all, Larry's greatest love was his family. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a doting grandfather. His warmth, kindness, and unwavering support will be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to have known him. Larry Patrick Martin Sr. leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and dedication. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends, and his memory will forever be cherished.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Robert S. Martin.

Larry is survived by his wife, Patricia Martin; his children, Larry Martin Jr. and wife April, and Greg Martin and wife Casey; his grandchildren, Bailey Martin, Francie Martin, and Finley Martin; his niece, Donna Folen and husband Len; his cousin, Danny Welch that he considered a brother; and numerous other family members.

Larry Patrick Martin Sr. will be remembered for his boundless love, his passion for life, and his unwavering commitment to family and community.
