Larue Thane

Larue Weeks Thane, 85, of Abilene passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2019 in Abilene.

A funeral service will be held Friday, September 20, 2019 at 11 AM at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 US HWY 277 S., Abilene, Tx., 79606. Interment will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park. A visitation will be held Thursday, September 19 from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home.

Larue was born on January 1, 1934 in Noodle, Tx., to the late Truman Perry Weeks and May Tidwell Weeks. She married Norman Thane on April 9, 1955 and were blessed with 51 years of marriage until his passing on September 8, 2006. Larue went to work for Super Duper Grocery in the mid 1950’s. They eventually became United Super Market and she worked there until her retirement in 2009. She began as a bookkeeper and retired as District Manager Receptionist. She was a loving, devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Larue never missed any activities of the kids and was involved in everyone’s life. She was a longtime member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church.

Larue is survived by her children, Rick Thanes (Arlena), Ginger Denton (Barney); grandchildren, Cara Holt, Jennifer Hughes, Emily Denton; great-grandchildren, Devyn Holt, Gregory Hughes; sister, Brenda Lacy (Perry); numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Larue was also preceded in death by 5 siblings, Cleta Tarver, Louise Carr, Janie Williams, Lloyd Weeks, Gerald Weeks.
