Michael Galan, a beloved son, brother, and friend, went to heaven August 5, 2023. Michael was the cherished child of Lauro Galan and Linda Vedro. A visitation will be 9:00 – 11: 00 AM, Thursday, August 10, 2023 in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Following the visitation the funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow the service in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Michael’s journey began in the heart of Abilene, where he attended the Abilene School District, laying the foundation for his future endeavors. He was a Personal Physical Fitness trainer in Albany and Breckenridge, TX. His passions were as diverse as they were heartfelt. Michael found solace and joy in various pursuits, including cooking exquisite meals, immersing himself in the world of auto racing, and experiencing the thrill of hunting in God’s creation great outdoors. His spirit of adventure extended to his cherished Silverado pickup truck. Among his many passions, Michael held a special place in his heart for bringing his family together. He delighted in hosting gatherings and barbecues, where laughter and love flowed freely.
Michael’s love for animals was evident in his deep bond with his dogs, (Chow, and Pomeranian) who he lovingly referred to as his babies.
As a man of faith, Michael found inspiration and peace in the words of Habakkuk 3:17-19: "Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will be joyful in God my Savior. The Sovereign LORD is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to tread on the heights." Michael was a member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church. On the beautiful day of October 1, 1989, Michael accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents; and two uncles, Second Galan; and Michael Anthony Flores.
Michael is survived by his mother, Linda Vedro and husband John; his father, Lauro Galan; his aunts and uncles, Belen Galan, Jackie Galan, Belia (Nana) Galan, Rachel Galan, Stella Valdez and husband Thomas; Virginia (Gina) Saenz, Ysau Flores, MSG Yvonne Clouser and husband SSG George, Joseph E. Flores, Robert C. Flores and wife Debra; and Christopher (Chris) Flores. Cousins, Marnie Rodriguez, Marissa Pugh and husband Chris, Ruben DeMarco Rodriguez and wife Lucinda, Regina (Nina) Rodriquez, Jennifer Flores-Cupp , Stephanie Saenz , Eric Flores, Alyssia Flores, Chief MSG George Haley, SPC Kathryn Clouser Duke, Jacob, Gabriel, Nicole, Jessica, and Elliott; second cousin, Christian Pugh; and many good friends.
The family will be accepting flowers but also donations may be made in Michaels honor to the charity or ministry of choice.
