Lavawn Hampton, 92, passed away Monday, March 26, 2012 in Abilene. A graveside funeral service will be held 2 PM, Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at Elmwood Memorial Park, 5750 Hwy 277 South.
Lavawn was born December 26, 1919 in DeSoto Parish, LA to Jim and Eva Jones. She graduated salutatorian of her class from Wylie High School. In 1939 she married the love of her life John Hamptom and they enjoyed a long marriage together until his passing in 1999 just one month short of their sixtieth wedding anniversary. She was a member of Elmwood Baptist Church. She enjoyed camping and making new friends all over the country, crocheting, and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Ronda Casey of Lubbock three grandchildren, Chelle Stevenson and husband, Eric of Portland, OR, Robyn Casey of Wolfforth, TX, Tyler Casey of Abilene two great grandsons, Zane and Jack Stevenson, one soon to be great granddaughter, Karter Casey one brother, Clarence Jones, one sister, Margaret Wimberley, and several nieces and nephews.
Lavawn was preceded in death by her husband of sixty years, John son in law, Jimmy Casey, five brothers, and two sisters.
The family suggests memorial donations in Lavawns memory to West Texas Rehabilitation Center, 4601 Hartford St., Abilene, TX 79605
