Laverne Floyd

Laverne Floyd went to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, September 25, 2011 at Windcrest Alzheimers Care Center. Laverne was blessed to be able to celebrate her 90th birthday on September 3rd with many of her friends and family from all over Texas, Tennessee, Maryland, Washington DC, and Colorado in attendance. Visitation for family and friends will be from 6 till 8 PM, Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Her funeral service will be 10:00 AM, Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at Southwest Drive United Methodist Church, 3025 Southwest Drive.
Laverne was born September 1, 1921 in Melrose, TX, one of ten children of B. and Mary Margaret Kerr. She married the love of her life, David Leon Floyd on July 2, 1954 in Abilene. Her life was dedicated to her Lord and her family. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary 2012 in Abilene and Southwest Drive United Methodist Women.
Laverne is survived by her loving family husband, David Leon Floyd daughter, Mary Faulks and husband Herluth of Crowley two grandsons, Russell Faulks and wife Lisa of White Settlement, Stephen Faulks and wife Kimberly of Burleson four great grandchildren, Kayla, Carrie, Tyler, and Samantha one sister, Mary Pigeon of Oakridge, TN sisterinlaws, Elizabeth Kerr of Crawford, and Eulala Brown of Lubbock many close nieces and nephews and friends who have become part of her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents brothers, P.H. Kerr, Ira Kerr, Lloyd Kerr, and Alton Kerr sisters, Vera Kerr, Lera Bratz, and Artie Lambert.
