Mrs. Perkins was born in Vernon, Texas to Malcom and Inetha Somerford Carter on May 19, 1942.

She married James R. Perkins in Denton County, Texas on September 15th, 1972. They had just celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary.

She graduated from Littlefield High School in Littlefield, Texas in May of 1960. She worked at Communities of Abilene Federal Credit Union as a receptionist before retiring.

The legacy she leaves behind is the faith in God that she instilled in her children and grandchildren. Salvation was important to her as was prayer, her family has both of those and with that we know we will see her and others again one day.

That legacy lives on in the next generation and for that she had such joy. She was the rock of the family, the teacher and the caregiver, spiritualist, and matriarch. Loved by many who were blessed to know her.

She was preceded in death by her parents Malcolm and Inetha Somerford Carter. Grandparents Lewis Henry and Georgia Carter, John and Sue Somerford, and great granddaughter Payton Leann Templeton.

She is survived by her husband James R. Perkins. Children Laura, John, Rick(Sheila) and Billy. Grandchildren April(Joseph) Winstead, John Lee, Timothy, Jacob(Ruth) Templeton, and Wesley. Brother Joe Carter, Sister Geneva(George) Bunch. Great grandchildren Zachary, Robert, Victoria, Colten, Jordan, Liam, Locke, and Levi(January 2017) Many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews as well as great-great niece and nephew.
