Known to his many friends and family as Lee, he was widely recognized in his community as an honest and caring businessman, a dedicated Christian and a friend to many. Lee was born in Breckenridge on April, 26, 1928 to John Ernest Harrison and Emma Gusta Harris Harrison. Lee graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1946. After graduation, he enlisted in the Navy as an Aviation Machinist Mate and served at the Naval Air Station, Seattle from 1946 - 1948. Lee was always very proud of his military service.
Lee met and married Lula Mae ‘Tooter' Hampton on June 25, 1950 in Abilene. They married on the day the Korean War started. They moved to Winters in 1951 where Lee became the manager of the Dunigan Tool and Supply. Their vibrant and strong marriage produced two children, Mark Hampton Harrison and Keva Lee Harrison. In 1970, because of his reputation in the community, Winters State Bank asked Lee to become a Loan Officer. He quickly moved up to Sr. VP and worked there until his retirement in 1990. Lee lost his precious Tooter in early 1996 after a battle with cancer. In January, 1997, Lee married Judith Dietz Chapman. They recently celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary.
Lee was very active in the community and his church. He served as a Winters city councilman, with the Chamber of Commerce and was a member of the Lions Club for over 60 years. In his retirement, he became very involved in Texas Baptist Men's Builders and Campers on Missions. With both organizations, he and Tooter, and later with Judy, travelled to many points of the country building churches and church camps. Before giving up this beloved missions activity, he often travelled and worked up to 26 weeks per year. It was something he truly loved to do to serve the Lord.
