Leonard W. Pat Patterson, 90, passed away on Friday, January 30, 2009 in Abilene. A memorial service with Dr. Cliff Stewart officiating will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at Wesley Court, 2617 Antilley Rd., where Mr. Patterson had enjoyed living for the past several years. Private family entombment will be in Elmwood Memorial Park. Arrangements are with Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 HWY 277 South.
Pat was born on January 8, 1919 in Bellevue, Texas the son of L.W. Patterson Sr. and Eunice Loe Patterson. He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II and was part of the Navy Seabees, serving in the South Pacific and in Attu, Alaska. He married Natha E. Tinnin in Pampa on October 19, 1941. He worked 46 years for Sun Oil Company retiring as District Production Superintendent. During his time with Sun Oil he had lived in Pampa, Colorado City, Sweetwater, Midland and finally Abilene where he has been a resident since 1981. He was a member of the First Central Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his son, Robert G. Patterson and wife BJ of Rancho Palos Verdes, California; one granddaughter, Angela Laidlaw and husband Alec of Portland, Oregon; one grandson, Nathan Patterson of Seattle, Washington; two great granddaughters, Katelyn and Caroline Laidlaw of Portland, Oregon; one niece, Retha Pritchett of Lubbock; and sister-in-law, Georgia B. Peoples of Andrews.
His wife of 62 years, Natha, and two grandsons, Steven Wilson Patterson and Robert Hunter Patterson preceded him in death.
In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the First Central Presbyterian Church, 400 Orange, Abilene, Texas 79601
