Leslie Stringer Dorn, aged 66, passed away on June 15, 2024, in Abilene, Texas. Born on July 4, 1957, in Rochester, New York, Leslie was the beloved son of John and Blee Dorn.
Leslie’s early years were marked by a move to Texas, where he attended Robert E. Lee High School in Midland. During his high school years, Leslie excelled in Polo, leading his team to a state championship victory. This early achievement was a testament to his competitive spirit and dedication.
After high school, Leslie lived in Plano for 22 years before moving to Sterling City and later to Eldorado, Texas. He found his true calling in the ranch life, embracing the rugged beauty and challenges of ranching. Leslie’s love for the outdoors was evident in his passions for hunting, fly fishing, and grilling—activities that brought him joy and relaxation.
Above all, Leslie’s greatest love was his family. He was a devoted father and grandfather, finding immense joy in watching and coaching his children in their sports endeavors. His grandchildren, however, held an even more special place in his heart, bringing him unparalleled happiness and pride.
Leslie Stringer Dorn’s legacy is one of love, dedication, and a deep connection to both his family and the land he cherished. His memory will be forever treasured by those who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Leslie is survived by his children, Michelle Dorn, Travis Glasser and spouse Raven, and Bridget Watson; his grandchildren, Shiloh Watson, and Connor Watson; his siblings, Rebecca Dorn, Stephen Dorn, and Tim Dorn; his nieces, Sarah Kniesler, Martha Kniesler and husband Dan Bermingham, and Matilda Bermingham; and numerous other family members and friends.
A visitation will be 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM on Monday, June 24, 2024 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. A funeral service will follow starting at 2:00 PM in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel.
