Lillie Stewart

Lillie Dee Stewart, 88, passed away Saturday, May 18, 2013 in Abilene. Her funeral service will be held at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, May 21st in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 HWY 277 South with interment to follow in Elmwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be Monday from 6:30 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Dee was born on June 20, 1924 in Melbourn, Texas the daughter of David McAllister and Delia Lemon Slough McAllister. She grew up and graduated high school in Cross Plains and moved to Abilene at the age of 18 where she met and married Robert Weldon Stewart in 1943. Dee worked for Southwestern Bell for over 25 years and was a Mary Kay Beauty Consultant for 43 years. She had a strong faith in God and had been a member of Crescent Heights Baptist Church since the late 1950s.

Dee was a talented seamstress, making many beautiful clothes for her daughter and granddaughter and in her later years, when she could no longer go places, she brought joy to others by mailing cards with special notes and letters inside for any and all occasions.

Survivors include her children, Robert Mac Stewart and wife Gerry of Garland, Eldon Len Stewart of Midlothian, and Vickie Landry of San Angelo seven grandchildren, Cindy, Laurie, Woody, Russell, Sarah, Chad, and Nicole 12 great grandchildren, 2 greatgreat grandchildren one great nephew, Nathan Ray Tyler and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Her husband Weldon, an Assistant Fire Chief with the Abilene Fire Department for 43 years, her granddaughter, April Stewart, brothers, Clyde and J.L. McAllister and sister, Rita Tyler preceded her in death.

The family would like to give special thanks to her caregivers, Lois and Jeanie and friends, Jo and Anna Moreno for the love and compassion shown throughout Dees illness.
