Lillie Bell Johnson-Tyson 80 went to be with her Lord, July 5, 2021 with her family by her side.
A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, July 13, 2021, at 11:00am at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 12, 2021, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 US HWY 277 South. Abilene, Texas 79606. Burial will be Elmwood Memorial Garden following the services.
Lillie Tyson was born in Bronte, Texas on November 30, 1940 to the parentage of Fred Lee Johnson and Susie Mae Hutchinson-Johnson.
She moved to Abilene, Texas with her family. She was always very friendly and outgoing. Lillie never met a stranger.
Lillie graduated from Colorado City High School in 1960 were she was a basketball player and they gave her the nickname, Shotgun Lillie for shooting a basket.
She worked at the Abilene State School for 13 years, Coronado Nursing Home, 10 years and she cleaned houses for 40 plus years.
Lillie married Vernell Tyson on June 19, 1967 and they were married 38 years.
She became a member of New Light Missionary Baptist Church for 60 years where she enjoyed Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Mission and singing in the congregation. Lillie loved praising her God and her church.
Lillie is preceded in death by her husband, Vernell Tyson, parents Fred Lee Johnson and Susie Mae Hutchinson, 2 brothers Freddie L. Johnson and Leroy Johnson, 3 sisters Mariah Hill, Lorraine Wilson, and Dorothy L. Johnson.
She leaves to cherish her memories, 2 sons Allen M. Johnson and John D. Tyson of Abilene and her daughter Nicole T. Tyson of Dallas, Texas. 5 grandchildren Kevontrey B, Arreyonnia T, Camorreya C, Camdyn c and Cambraya C all of Dallas, Texas and a host of other relatives and friends.
