"A light has gone out in this world and Heaven now shines all the brighter." That cherished light was Linda Lareau DuBose Brasher who passed on to Glory on November 7, 2022. Born in 1952 to Bruse and Maevolene (Bridges) DuBose, Abilene was her home until she attended college at Texas Christian University, ultimately graduating from Southern Methodist University with a Bachelor of Arts in 1974. She married her high school sweetheart, Steven Lee Brasher, a graduate of the Dallas Police Academy. Dallas, Abilene and Bedford, Texas, and Brussels, Belgium were their homes while they raised their two children, Sommer and Cody. Linda and Steve made a unique life having lived overseas while Steve worked for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). After returning to the states, Linda also began working as a Special Agent for the FAA in the DFW area. After 9-11 she ensured the security of commercial and general aviation over the West Texas area for Homeland Security as an Inspector based in Abilene. Steve and Linda built their homestead just outside Tuscola in 2004, joining the First Baptist Church of Tuscola. Linda had a passion and amazing talent for making things beautiful and she was part of the church decorating committee. They recently celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary with Steve arranging a surprise celebration with their children and grandchildren standing by their side as they renewed vows. Their love stood the test of time as they clung to each other in the Lord.
Linda is survived by uncounted family and friends who mourn her loss: husband Steve; son Cody Brasher and wife Kelley of Fort Worth with children Lennon and Dalton; daughter Sommer Lapitsky and husband John of Arlington with children Avery, Zane and Trinity; sister Georgia Dworshak of Bixby, Oklahoma; cousins Debbie Dobbs of Richardson and Janet DuBose of San Antonio; sister-in-law Joyce Brasher of Southlake; niece Jamie Baker and husband Jeff of Southlake with children Callie and Camden; niece Karie Hagy and husband Mitch with children Nathaniel and Paisley; nephew Dustin Neal and wife Lindsay of Cedar Park with children Clara and Sophie; and numerous other cousins and friends.
