Linda Kay Taylor, age 74, of Abilene passed away February 4th in Hendrick Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 PM on Thursday, February 6th at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 HWY 277 South. A private interment will follow.
Linda Kay Taylor was born in Sylvester, Texas on April 4, 1939 to Frank George White and Josie Middleton White. She graduated from Abilene High School, received her bachelors degree from Hardin Simmons University and later her masters degree from Abilene Christian University. She married Marvin Taylor on August 8, 1961.
Kay was a lifelong educator who possessed a passion for working with young people and touched the lives of many throughout her career. She worked in education for 34 years with 25 of years at Abilene ISD as a teacher and administrator. She enjoyed working with the students and colleagues at Abilene High School as well as Franklin and Lincoln Middle Schools.
Kay is survived by her husband of 52 years, Marvin Taylor her daughter, Kimberly Smith and husband Gabe of Mansfield her grandsons, Grant and Garrett Smith her sister, Kathryn Fraley and husband Bill of Spring, Texas and 17 nieces and nephews.
Kay is preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Betty Mayberry and Fern Taylor, her twin brother Ray White and her brother Frank White, Jr.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations to the Abilene Retired Teachers Association Scholarship Fund, 2941 Stonecrest, Abilene, TX 79606.
Kay will be remembered by all who knew her for her highenergy level, her love for her family and friends and her willingness to help anyone.
