Lois Catherine Kihlberg Armstrong, 78, passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2011 in Abilene. A graveside service will be held at 3:30 PM on Thursday, December 15th in the Garden of Gethsemane at Elmwood Memorial Park. Visitation is from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Wednesday at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 HWY 277 South.
Lois was born on November 22, 1933 the daughter of Fritz Fred Kihlberg and Alice Benning Kihlberg. She graduated from Tivy High School in Kerrville in 1951 as Valedictorian of her class and was married shortly after to Lee Armstrong. The Armstrongs came to Abilene in the early 50s where they were active members of the First Central Presbyterian Church. She was an avid animal lover and owned several German Shepherds over the years and she enjoyed rock collecting. Lois was a tireless homemaker who loved and cared for her family with all that she had.
Survivors include her children, Debbie Karen White and husband Shane of Austin and Bill Armstrong and wife Kathy of Taylor County her brother, Fred Kihlberg and wife Vickie of Abilene two grandchildren, Lauren Lee Kaufman and husband Daniel and Zachary Shane White two great grandchildren, and Jonas and Amy Kaufman.
Her parents, husband and one daughter, Donna Gayle Armstrong preceded her in death.
