Lorenzo Bell, 67, went to be with his Lord, Sunday, December 16, 2018 in Abilene, Texas. Visitation will be 6:00PM - 8:00PM , Friday, December 21, 2018 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. A Funeral Service will be 2:00PM, Saturday, December 22, 2018 in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Interment will follow the service in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Lorenzo (Nooky) Bell was born to Leranza and Ethel Mae Thomas on September 17, 1951 in Abilene, Texas. He attended Woodson Elementary, Franklin Jr. High, and graduated from Abilene High School. He loved sports from the time he played with the Pop warner League. He continued to excel in track, basketball, and his favorite "football". He worked for Dixie Pig, on weekends, in high school. After graduation he started working for Coca-Cola for 5 years. Lorenzo spent 23 years working for WTU in the storeroom and retired in June 2002. He met and married Earnestine Jacobs after a year and half of dating. They were blessed to have 47 years of marriage.
Lorenzo is preceded in death by his parents, Leranza (Tank) and Ethel Mae Thomas; his brother, Floyd Bell; and sister Mattie Williams.
He is survived by his wife, Earnestine Bell; sisters, Ella Dennis of San Antonio, and Helen Simmons of Abilene; brothers, Johnny (Arlene) Bell of Abilene, Texas, and T.C Bell (Martha) of Abilene, Texas; two brothers in law, William (Ida) Carroll of Desoto, Texas and Mickey (Mary) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; 41 nieces and nephews; and a host of great nieces and nephews.
Special nieces he spent many wonderful hours were, Betty Jean, Caprice, Latrice, and Deanna Baby his "Sunday phone buddy".
Special nephews that he talked sports with or gave words of encouragement to were, Victor, Michael, Tom, Gregory, Gary, Darrius, and Darrell Keith.
