Louise Williams

June 8, 1948 — May 17, 2018

Louise Johanna Willwater Williams went to be with the Lord on May 17, 2018. Louise was born in Brooklyn, New York on June 8, 1948 to Carl Friedrich & Laura Louise Willwater. Her father passed away when she was 5 years old, and soon after she and her mother moved back to Texas where she grew up in Lubbock and Abilene. She enjoyed spending several summer vacations visiting with family in Austin. Her favorite things to do during these visits were swimming, and touring the capitol building where her great-grandfather, George W. Smith, had served as Secretary of State of Texas during the Hogg administration.

Louise graduated from Cooper High School, and from Texas Women's University where she earned her RN. She served in the US Army Reserves as a nurse, and was employed by Hendrick Hospital, where she met and later married Jerry Williams on November 6, 1971. Jerry and Louise moved several times in their lives, living in Abilene, South Lake, Comanche, Georgetown, Copperas Cove, Leander and back to Abilene prior to Jerry's passing. Louise worked as an RN in each city for various Dr.'s. After retiring she worked as a substitute nurse for the Leander and Copperas Cove School Districts. Jerry and Louise loved to travel, having taken several cruises with family and friends over the years. Louise was a member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church. Her passions were reading books, her church family and time spent singing in the church choir at Pioneer Drive Baptist Church. Louise spent her final years in Baytown in order to be close to family.

Louise is preceded in death by her parents Carl and Laura Willwater, her husband of 44 years, Jerry L. Williams and her beloved basset hounds. She is survived by her sister-in-law's, Benetta Williams of San Angelo, Velda Blackburn of Goldthwaite, and Juan Jones and her husband, Richard, of Baytown, a few second cousins, in particular, Evans Rutledge, who was especially helpful to her after Jerry's passing. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews, and dear friends Faye Dixon of San Angelo, Janis Felty of Abilene and Jeanie Guest of Brownwood.
The family would like to thank Velda Blackburn and Juan and Richard Jones for helping Louise so much after Jerry's passing, and to Juan and Richard for looking after her during her final time with us. Special thanks to the staff at Swan Manor and Faith Community Hospice in Baytown for their care and attention.
