Wayne Greenhouse, 78, went to heaven on May 29, 2010. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Elmwood Funeral Home in Abilene with Richard Humphries, pastor of Champions Church, officiating. A private burial will follow. The family will receive visitors at 9:30 a.m. prior to the memorial service.
Wayne was born on July 1, 1931 in Briscoe, Texas. Upon graduation from Miami High School in 1949, Wayne served in the Army during the Korean War. He owned Miami Implement Company until 1991. After graduating from Bible college in 1997, Wayne and his wife moved to Abilene.
During his life, Wayne enjoyed ranching, fishing, and flint knapping, and was a licensed pilot. He was a man of faith and always gave God the glory for sustaining him during his 14 year battle with Parkinsons disease.
Survivors include his wife, Sylvia of Abilene his daughter, Jeannie Greenhouse of Miami his stepdaughter, Amber Black and husband Kelly of Canyon five grandchildren including Jeramie Greenhouse and wife Lisa of Amarillo, Kaylee Greenhouse of Houston, Colby Greenhouse of Canadian, and Austin and Ben Black of Canyon and two brothers, Harold Greenhouse and wife Belva of Amarillo and Dale Greenhouse and wife Becky of Pampa. He was preceded in death by his sons, Rodney and Ty Greenhouse, and by his parents, Pete Greenhouse and Mildred Greenhouse Mantooth.
The family would like to express appreciation to Waynes sistersinlaw and brotherin law and their spouses, as well as Hendrick Hospice Care, for their help in caring for Wayne during his illness. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the West Texas Parkinsons Society, 3610 22nd St., Suite 300, Lubbock, TX 79410 or to Hendrick Hospice Care, 1682 Hickory Street, Abilene, TX 79601.
