Lucile Johnson, age 76, beloved mother, cherished sister, devoted wife and treasured friend, passed away on January 20, 2010.
Honey, as she was affectionately known, was born on July 4, 1933, in the North side community of Abilene, Texas to parents Luther Sr., and Selina Anderson. Lucile attended local schools. Lucile married Kenneth Johnson, August 3, 1964. This was a blessed union of thirty years until the Lord called him to his reward in 1994. We take comfort that she now joins her beloved Kenneth in the arms of our Lord and Savior.
Lucile was employed at Abilene State School for 8 years, and continued to serve her community in later years as a childcare provider. In her infinite capacity to love, Lucile extended her home and family to several children as a state certified Foster Home. She made you feel like the most important and loved person by just knowing her.
Lucile was preceded in death by her eldest brother, James Anderson. Those she leaves to cherish her memory and love are her daughters, Alice A. Williams and husband Ray, and Beverly Johnson of Abilene, Texas two brothers, Luther Anderson, Jr. and wife Shirley of Norfolk, Virginia and Bobby Davis and wife Cloyia of Austin, Texas one sister, Frances Fant of San Diego, California three grandchildren, four greatgrandchildren, and five greatgreat grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Family members and friends will gather for visitation at Elmwood Funeral Home, at 5750 Hwy. 277 South, Abilene, Texas from 3:005:00 p.m., January 24, 2010 where funeral services will be held on Monday, January 25, 2010, 2:00 p.m. Graveside services and interment will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park, with Reverend Brooks of Shiloh Baptist Church officiating.
