LUIS PEREZ PICOT

Luis Perez Picot passed away on Thursday, July 6, 2023 after a lengthy illness.

He was born October 13, 1944 in Havana, Cuba. Luis came to the United States in 1962 at the age of 17.

Because he was a minor the Department of Health, Education and Welfare assigned him foster parents.

He lived for five years with Mr. and Mr. J.M. Picot in North Carolina and attended Chowan College in Murfreesboro, North Carolina. Luis came to Abilene in 1966 when he received a scholarship to Hardin Simmons University graduating in 1968 with a BS degree in chemistry and biology. He taught school briefly in Jones County and returned to HSU where received his MBA degree in May 1971. He became an American citizen in 1972.

Luis was employed in the oil field as a field engineer and salesman and retired in 2021.

Luis met his wife Teresa while attending Hardin Simmons and together made their home in Abilene. He is survived by his wife and son John.

Luis was predeceased by his parents, Aida Lopez and Angel Perez-Medina.

A memorial service is being scheduled for a later time.

It is the family's wishes that memorials be made to either the Cancer Society or Rescue the Animals of Abilene.
