Lyna Jewel's our momma
Padgett was her maiden name.
Born in Kingman, Kansas
On the edge of the Western Plain.
The barber's daughter played a mean fiddle,
But never sought fortune or fame.
Full time mom to her boys.
They loved her all the same
Moved out to West Texas after WW II
Daddy started college on the G.I. Bill
And fought those G.I. blues.
She nursed him back from the fear and flack
That racked his body and soul.
They'd roll up the rug, do the jitterbug to Hank on the radio
Grandkids called her "Mimi"
Made a mean milkshake.
Hostess with the mostest
Grillin' those longhorn steaks
Love to do laundry for the family
Never had a sordid affair
Her idea of action
Was rockin' in her rocking chair.
She could dance goin' backwards on roller skates,
Never heard her cuss.
In Heaven she'll have a corner lot,
Maybe next to Elvis.
Shared 66 years the laughs and tears
With our dear ol' daddy Fred.
Come Sunday, she'll be at the Church of Christ
Or she'll be stone cold dead.
Lyna Jewel's our momma,
Padgett was her maiden name.
Passed in Abilene, Texas
On the edge of the Western Plains.
Mathew 28:20
Jesus said, "And lo I am with you always,
even unto the end of the world"
We love you Mimi!
Have fun in Heaven!
